SENER AND AMPER GROUP SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR DEVELOPING AND COMMERCIALISING OFFSHORE WIND TECHNOLOGY
The two companies will launch the “Hive wind” semi-submersible floating platform for offshore wind power.
SENER Renewable Investments, a company that belongs to SENER engineering and technology group, and AMPER Group (through its subsidiary Nervión Naval-Offshore) have signed a collaboration agreement for the development and commercialisation of floating offshore wind technology.
Under this agreement, both companies will develop and commercialise a semi-submersible floating steel platform for offshore wind turbines with a capacity of more than 15 MW. The prototype, called “Hive wind”, is in the engineering development phase. Over the next few weeks, it will be tested on a reduced scale in the IHCantabria experimental channel in order to evaluate its hydrodynamic behaviour.
Several Business Units of the Amper Group will participate in the agreement, with the aim of incorporating different assembly, technology and engineering capabilities to the project, given their experience and participation in all the projects of the sector manufactured in Spain to date. For its part, SENER Renewable Investments will have the contributions of SENER Ingeniería, both with extensive experience in the wind energy sector: SENER Ingeniería develops innovative technology with R&D projects such as SEAPOWER, as well as working with large clients in the sector, to whom it provides comprehensive engineering services for large offshore wind projects. Since 2020, SENER Renewable Investments has been promoting floating offshore wind farms in Spain.
With this commitment, SENER and AMPER seek to take advantage of synergies in terms of their experience in the field of Offshore Wind, with the aim of optimising the design of floating structures, in order to multiply the mass production of floating units at reduced costs, given the demand for this type of structure expected in the near future.
